Lordman, Ruehl Earn Weekly Honors

ASHEVILLE — Asheville’s Kris Lordman and North Buncombe’s Katarina Ruehl are this week’s male and female WNCPrepTrack.com indoor athletes of the week.

Lordman earns the weekly honors for the second time this season. This is Ruehl’s first time earning the weekly honors.

Both Lordman and Ruehl had impressive performances at the North Carolina Indoor Opener.

Lordman recorded three top-five finishes, including a second place showing in the 500-meter dash, where he posted a time of 1 minute, 7.86 seconds. He also took third in the 300 (36.16) and fifth in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches).

Lordman, a junior, ranks at the top of 3-A and is sixth among all classifications by NCRunners.com, in the 500. He also checks in at No. 15 in the latest national rankings by MileSplit.com

Ruehl won the 3,200-meter run and ran a leg on the winning 4×800 relay team to lead North Buncombe to a third-place finish in the North Carolina Indoor Opener.

Ruehl, a junior, captured the 3200 in 11 minutes, 46.83 seconds. She helped the Hawks win the 4×800 in 10:34.90.

North Buncombe’s Sage Proffitt was also in the running for this week’s honors.
