Gordon, Proffitt Earn Weekly Honors

ASHEVILLE – Roberson’s Brooke Gordon and North Buncombe’s Sage Proffitt were named the WNCPrepTrack.com Female Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the website announced Monday. Gordon logged in an indoor personal-best time of 5 minutes, 15.13 seconds in the 1,600-meter run, while Proffitt equaled her indoor personal best in the pole vault (11 feet, 6 inches).

 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Brooke Gordon, TC Roberson (Jr. – 1600)

  • Second Career Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor
  • Fourth at the Eastern Challenge Meet
  • Recorded a new personal best of 5:15.13 (fastest in WNC by 11 seconds.)
  • Ranks No. 1 in WNC in the 1000m ( 3:08.20)

 

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Sage Proffitt, North Buncombe (Sr. – Pole Vault)

  • Second Career Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Honor
  • Won the Asheville Polar Bear Meet #2
  • Equaled her personal best of 11’6″
  • Ranks No.1 in WNC in both the pole vault and 500 (41.90)
