Gordon, Nuw Earn Weekly Honors

ASHEVILLE — Roberson’s Brooke Gordon and West Henderson’s Saban Nuw  are this week’s  male and female  WNCPrepTrack.com indoor athletes of the week.

Each athlete played an instrumental part in their team’s success at last week’s Reindeer Games.

Gordon helped the Roberson girls capture their second-straight team crown as they eased by East Henderson, 94 to 64. Nuw scored 17.50 points to lead the West Henderson victory over Roberson boys, 95.50 to 70.50.

Gordon, a junior, won the 1,600-meter run in a 4-A state qualifying time of 5 minutes and 26.20 seconds. She also ran a leg on the winning 4×800 team, who qualified for February’s indoor state meet with a time of 10:39.09.

Nuw, a junior, won the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 6.5 inches. He also took third in the triple jump with a mark of 40’6.5″ en route to the Falcons team win.

North Buncombe’s Sage Proffitt and Eli Clevenger were also in the running for this week’s honors.
